Submitting Solutions

Submit your solutions as soon as you have cracked one of the challenges, as the first person to crack each challenge will receive an extra point.

  • For the deobfuscation challenges, you can download our evaluation tool here: You can run this tool to see how much of the obfuscated code you have removed.
  • To submit a solution, simply send an email to info@grand-re-challenge.org with the subject line "Challenge Solution <name of file>". Attach the solution to your email. Include your token, name, and email address in the body of the message. Once we have evaluated your submission, you will receive an email response.
  • The data traces will be uploaded automatically. The system records keystrokes, mouse input, active window information, running process information, and screenshots.
  • The challenges for Round 1 will be posted May 21. The challenges for Round 2 will be posted June 5. Round 1 challenges can be submitted even during Round 2. All solutions need to arrive by midnight, anywhere on earth, June 25.
  • Before the beginning of Round 2 we will post information about the outcome of Round 1.

What Data do We Collect?

The data collection software records keystrokes, mouse input, active window information, running process information, and screenshots.

  • We do not copy, collect, publish or share with anyone any scripts or other software being used by participants.
  • Our software is open source, distributed as unobfuscated Java byte code. You can decompile it to verify what we collect, or recompile it from source yourself here.
  • We recommend that you run your attacks within a virtual machine (the same as you would do when analyzing a malware sample) to ensure that the challenges themselves (for which you obviously do not have access to source code!) don’t do anything nefarious (they don’t).
